Minutes for JCR Committee Meeting, 27th May 2003

Summary of Main Points of Meeting:

1. Welcome
   • The minutes of the last meeting were approved
   • Matters arising:
     • John Rook (Conference Office) and the Domestic Bursar aren't keen on moving Harry Potter Formal due to clash with normal Formal Hall. To investigate further. Tuesday is the worst day, but we may have no choice.
     • Post it notes to be ordered soon... site is down [Addendum: now ordered]
2. Light party
   • Invitations to be printed soon and signed by Ian and Jenny
3. Photocopying
   • Concerns about JCR photocopier (still broken!?)
4. Formal hall computer
   • Cables in plodge damaged by building work.
   • Terminal is now located in Servery. This is open all day, not just at meal times.
5. Swordfish
   • Rachel was asked to investigate whether serving swordfish at formals is ethically fishy.
   • Not completely clear-cut - while swordfish are overfished, this applies to many species.
   • Will investigate further.
6. Date of next meeting
