Summary of Main Points of Meeting:
- Welcome

College Redevelopment
- B staircase and offices to be refurbished
- Starts in 2004
- To comply with Disability Discrimination Act
- Extending office space; kitchens, ventilation systems modernised; fellows' parlour remodelled.
- No aesthetic plans for Great Hall yet
- Nothing too controversial. Total cost £1.3m essential, £2.5m non-essential
- Plans in office for now, copy will be placed in bar at lunchtimes
- Welfare
- Kenny A want a microwave since disabled students can't use ovens; Dick Taplin
needs hurrying along.
- Disclosing disabilities - Dick Taplin would like a full list of students with
disabilities, where they live and what they need. Tough, he's not getting one.
However, we need to make it
easier for students who *want* to disclose their disability to get help.
- M and N staircases are without heating, and the electric heaters blow the fuses...
Poor state of affairs. (Committee voted to support witholding rent if situation
did not improve)
- Open Meeting debrief
- Wording of minutes modified so as not to annoy Master, not worth advertising
ourselves to animal rights protestors
- How do we get quorum?
- Drag society people along to approve their budgets
- Controversial motions (recall no-smoking motion) seem to work
- Pizza supplies from Pizza Hut?
- Hold an OM in the Great Hall at slops time
- Would have to be a non-formal night
- Guaranteed to get an excellent attendance
- Would need PA system to be heard
- Need to talk to Catering Department
- Agreement to try a open meeting at slops as an experiment

- James reported on current status
- DCAC committee meeting on Friday
- Has spoken to Amol about Griffin; he can produce 4 issues (Freshers, Michaelmas, Lent, Easter) with
20 pages for £720.
- We do already have a petty cash tin with £157.80 in, which no-one knew about
- Meeting with Bursar re petty cash, bank account etc cancelled
- Anomalies in last year's balance sheet (why are we paying the boatman's phone bill) need to be cleared up
- Any other business
- Jenny: Who's responsible for paper in the computer room? Probably Malcolm - there's a cupboard in the plodge with
spare paper in though.
- Matt: New Citi8 bus service to Addenbrokes and the West Cambridge site - see website
- Ian: We are getting the small TV room back, refurbished by College
for free.
- Matt: Please don't send attachments to the email lists.
- Ian: Getting a quote for laptop slot-locks, will contact those interested
- Matt: New CUSU website, but our forums are currently better.
- Jenny: planning an ent for Christmas, any ideas?
- Ian: JCRC exchange formal in the pipeline
